Dover-Foxcroft, Maine OUI Criminal Defense Attorney
Location of Court
If you get arrested and charged for drunk driving (OUI) in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, your case will proceed in the Dover-Foxcroft District Court. This court is located at 159 East Main Street, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, on the corner of East Main Street, and Court Street. The courthouse is in a brand new, squar-ish, two-story brick building with several other buildings connected to it. One of the buildings connected to the new courthouse is the original court building, built in 1838. This building is right on the corner of East Maine and Court streets, and has a small balcony over the entranceway, as well as a bell tower and flagpole on the roof. The original courthouse is also connected to the Piscataquis County Jail, on the south, with an enclosed walkway on the second floor.
There is a medium-sized parking lot located right next to the courthouse. While it is not a large lot, the Dover-Foxcroft District Court is not one of Maine's busier courts, so is well able to provide enough parking for everyone.
There are two courtrooms in the Dover-Foxcroft District Court. The larger one is in the original courthouse building, and the smaller courtroom is right next to it. Both of these courtrooms have modern audio/video capabilities, making presentations easier for all those involved. In fact, due to the recency of construction, this courthouse is actually one of the most modern and technologically up to date courthouses in the state of Maine.
Piscataquis County has the same District Attorney that Penobscot County has: Chris Almy. Unfortunately, Mr. Almy has a strict “no negotiation” policy when it comes to dealing with OUI charges. Any prosecutor on his staff who drops down an OUI charge to something else knows that they'll be looking for a new job, very soon. In one sense, Mr. Almy's policy against plea deals makes OUIs in Piscataquis County simple – without a negotiation process, the case goes straight to trial.
